Ashton on Mersey has always been powered by volunteers, families and players who care about the local area. From early grassroots teams to today's football, fitness and social events, Banky Lane has become a place where people come to play, support, celebrate and belong.
The original Ashton on Mersey rugby club was formed by local players who wanted somewhere to play, compete and build friendships.
Tony Lowe started a football coaching centre at Wellfield Junior School, built around a simple idea: football for all abilities.
Wellfield Juniors became Ashton on Mersey Junior Football Club, giving the football section a stronger local identity.
The girls' section relaunched and became a major part of the club's future, helping more players find a team and a place to belong.
Ashton on Mersey Sports Club was formed through the merger of Ashton on Mersey RUFC and Ashton on Mersey FC, bringing sport, fitness, events and social connection together at Banky Lane.
Ashton on Mersey Football Club was recognised as Cheshire FA's Grassroots Club of the Year.
